Most days, the faces that appear at the doorway to the Nashville Rescue Mission are filled with sadness, anguish and shame. Battered by addiction, devastated by the loss of loved ones, abandoned, abused, crushed by failure, these men and women who come to us for help tell us they have run out of strength. They don’t have the courage to go on.
Believe it or not, this is exactly what God wants to hear from each one of us—we can’t make it on our own. To those who are willing to hand over the reins of their lives to Him, He promises—“Those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.” Isaiah 40:31
“Let God’s promises shine on your problems.” –Corrie Ten Boom
When you read the story of Sandy in this issue of Heart of the Mission, you will see God’s promise from Isaiah at work in her life. As you read about Chris, a unique volunteer who spent the summer with us, you’ll also hear how God calls us to a higher purpose than we can imagine.
Thank you for helping us share His promises with these and so many other members of our community. Together, we are reaching out to those in need and providing hope for a better way of life.
