We would like to introduce you to Paul, the man featured in our Easter commercial.
When Paul walked through the doors of Nashville Rescue Mission in December 2014, it was the last place he ever expected to find himself.
In 2003, Paul was the CEO of an economic development consulting firm and negotiated contracts in the range of billions of dollars. He isn’t someone you would expect to see homeless and staying at a shelter.
“When the plants starting moving first to Mexico, and then China, everything changed. I went through a difficult divorce and saw the job market essentially dry up for me … all around the same time. It sort of forced me into a career change.”
Paul came to Nashville to start over. He rented a room and started working day labor jobs while searching for his next career opportunity.
Time and time again Paul kept hearing he was overqualified for the positions he was applying for. That next career opportunity never came.
And in no time at all, Paul was unable to pay his rent and forced to leave. With no one to turn to and nowhere to go, he found himself at the doors of Nashville Rescue Mission.
While staying at the Mission, Paul started volunteering at the Nashville Public Library. His volunteer work eventually opened up a door for a position with the National Council on Aging, and ultimately, he was able to secure an apartment that overlooked Centennial Park. He lived there until his passing in 2018.
It is with his blessing we continue to share his story with you.
Right now, you can help someone else who is struggling with hunger, homelessness, or life-controlling addiction to face tomorrow. Every $2.26 you give will provide a hearty meal and more—and open the door to new life in Jesus Christ.
