What does a homeless child hope and dream about? For eight-year-old Damion, it’s the dream of a house. Mikayla dreams of someday having her own room. And eleven-year-old Ethan hopes for everyone to have clothes and shoes.

 

On August 19th, award winning photojournalist and author, Linda Solomon, brought her nationally acclaimed Pictures of Hope program to Nashville Rescue Mission. Through this program, homeless and at-risk children, ages 7-12, are given the chance to express their hopes through photography. Pictures of Hope is a national, annual collaboration between Ms. Solomon and Chevrolet.

 

Ms. Solomon provided children who call the Mission their home with an opportunity to take photographs of whatever inspired them. After receiving a camera (generously donated by Walgreens), the children were sent on a photo assignment with a volunteer mentor, to capture their hopes and dreams. 

 

On November 25th, these budding photographers will be honored at a Meet the Young Artist reception, as Christmas cards created with their photos will be unveiled.
