Special Thanks: Poplar Grove Elementary

The Nashville Rescue Mission would like to thank the third grade students of Poplar Grove Elementary in Franklin, Tennessee, for their donation of $1054.97 to help the homeless.

Students participating in the Market Day Project studied the economy, paid their taxes and talked about global concerns. Part of the Project included making “home-made” products and then selling them to other students. Initially, the students were presented with the idea of purchasing a class pet or playground equipment with the money they raised. But when Will, one of the students suggested using their money to feed the hungry, all classrooms voted to give the proceeds to feed the homeless at the Nashville Rescue Mission.

“We talked about giving from the heart without expecting anything in return,” said Gloria Allard, one of the third grade teachers of Poplar Grove. “The students were very excited as the quarters came rolling in. We are so proud!”

To all the third grade students of Poplar Grove–we thank you for your giving spirit and your generosity.
