“I ran out of options; I had no place to go. I didn’t have any more friends because of drugs and secluding myself from everybody,” Teresa says, remembering the cycle of addiction that once dominated her life and forced her into experiencing homelessness.

“I stayed under the bridge and slept on an old mattress. I didn’t have many clothes, and it was really cold.”
Finally, the addiction that cost her jobs, her apartment, and every important relationship almost took her life.
An overdose was a wakeup call, and that experience led Teresa to the Life Recovery Program at Nashville Rescue Mission. “I feel a lot better now,” she says. “I don’t have any desire to do drugs and get back out there like I was before. And I feel happy. Before, I was just miserable. This program has been really good. I’ve learned a lot.”
Teresa credits the Christ-centered environment of the Mission with her transformation. “I’m a Christian, I’ve been baptized. I got back into God, which has helped me out a whole lot.”
Deeply thankful for finding a safe refuge during the darkest days of her life, Teresa wants donors to know their support of the Mission is saving and changing lives. She says, “They’ve treated me very good here. Donors are doing a great job of it because people are in need here. Everybody’s very appreciative; they really are. Please keep on giving!”
Thank you for your prayers and partnership with Nashville Rescue Mission that are being used by God to save and change lives!
