“A million times, thank you.” —Amber

“A million times, thank you.” —Amber

Forced to grab her children and run to escape violence in her home, Amber felt the weight of the world on her shoulders. While it was a relief to no longer fear for the safety of her little ones and herself—the family had nowhere to go. Then Amber’s aunt suggested Nashville Rescue Mission . . .

Amber’s first thought was to say no to a homeless shelter, despite the hard truth that she and her children were truly homeless.

But when her aunt shared that her best friend worked at the Mission, and it was a place where people heal and rebuild their lives, Amber opened her heart to take a closer look.

“I had preconceived notions of what the Mission might be like, possibly a scary environment. But it’s completely opposite of what I thought it was going to be,” Amber says with a smile. “It’s been a very smooth transition for me and my kids; they’ve adjusted well. We have our own room, we have everything we need,” she shares.

“I thought I needed some counseling, and my kids, too. [Through the Life Recovery Program], God allowed me to learn a lot about myself, which is something I never took the time to do before.”

With the completion of our Life Recovery Program, Amber is looking forward to a wonderful future for herself and her children. She has a job waiting for her, and her employer has offered to pay for the certifications her position will require. “God sent me a dream job,” she says.

To caring donors who give so generously to support Nashville Rescue Mission, Amber is deeply thankful. She says, “Thank you. A million times, thank you. I thank God every day and I teach my children to do the same.”

“It’s a blessing to know we will get meals every day—a hot meal, with fruit and vegetables. Not everybody has this. Plus there are shoes, clothes, toiletries, and more.”

This Thanksgiving will be very different for Amber and her family, but she will never forget the lifesaving, life-changing help she received at Nashville Rescue Mission during a very difficult time. Thank you to all the friends of the Mission for giving Amber the new beginning she needed!

This Thanksgiving, Amber and her children are thankful for your prayers and support that make it possible for Nashville Rescue Mission to help change lives!
