Grace Through Grief

Grace Through Grief

Losing her beloved husband of 16 years was difficult for Grace. Then a botched surgery left her in constant pain, barely able to get around, and without a place to call home.

God brought her to the Mission for safe refuge, help with the grief, and fresh hope for healing—inside and out.

“I am very grateful and thankful for what I do have. I really am,” Grace says of finding a warm welcome and safe shelter at Nashville Rescue Mission while she awaits the surgeries that will, literally, get her back on her feet.

The crushing loss of a loved one and the physical pain Grace has endured give her compassion for others who are turning to the Mission each day for meals, help in overcoming addiction, homelessness, joblessness, or other life-dominating challenges.

“I have gone hungry before. It’s horrible. It’s not fun at all,” she says as families, seniors, and other neighbors come through the Mission doors hoping for a meal that may lead to a new beginning in life.

“We’ve all been through some adversity in life,” she says with a knowing smile. “Biblically, it’s come as you are and be the person God made you to be. We should all be loved and should all be accepted.”

The Christ-centered care Grace receives at Nashville Rescue Mission has been a huge comfort and serves as an anchor as she navigates difficult days.

God is real, the Lord is real. When a person has gone through so much in their life and they stay with God and Jesus, they can get through anything.

Pray with us that this Thanksgiving will find Grace on the path to healing and independence—and that her time with the Mission will bring joy into the lives of people who are filled with despair.

Thank you for making new beginnings possible here at Nashville Rescue Mission!
