New Year New Life

DonOur nation was founded by a group of homeless wanderers and outcasts whose thoughts are captured in the beautiful inscription found on the Statue of Liberty.

“Give me your tired, your poor, Your huddled masses yearning to breathe free, The wretched refuse of your teeming shore. Send these, the homeless, tempest-tossed to me. I lift my lamp beside the golden door.”

We see them here every day at the Nashville Rescue Mission. They are the people who come to us for help—the men, women and even children who have fallen out of society and into hard times.

If you and I could sit and share a meal with a man like David, we’d hear about his struggles and how many people have shunned him. But he found his way here…and found himself welcomed, supported and truly cared for. You helped supply what he needed to take the necessary steps to a healthy, productive and transformed life. Definitely, my friend, you’re an essential part of David’s transformation.

Some find themselves here because of poor choices. Others are blindsided by tragedy over which they have no control. One woman came to us when she’d lost everything to a prolonged and devastating illness. Here she found safety, rest, food to eat, a place to heal—exactly what she needs to make a fresh start once she fully recovers her strength. It is exciting to be involved in all of this positive change.

Thank you for everything your gifts make possible—from food and housing, to staff, recovery programs and changed lives.

Together, we’re living out the Gospel. God makes all things new—including us!
