So many homeless boys and girls are missing out on a well-rounded education, the very thing they need to break the cycle of homelessness and the life of poverty they’ve been living. Their schooling gets interrupted because they don’t have a stable home; they can’t concentrate in class because they rarely have enough to eat; they worry about being ostracized because they aren’t “like” everyone else. It is heartbreaking.
At the Nashville Rescue Mission, the children have a safe place to live with their moms, and that stability is very importantto them. They’re able to have a routine: school, playtime, homework, meal with mom, bedtime.
The boys and girls are also able to watch their mother work hard at changing their lives for the better. They see her studying, too—and that’s a powerful example of building a better life.
Of course the best “training” you help us offer is based on God’s love. Your support gives families a Christ-centered home here at the Nashville Rescue Mission, andthe encouragement and love they need to grow in God’s love.
“Train a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not turn from it.” – Proverbs 22:6
Another “training” is a good education because it gives children the skills and discipline they need to excel. Your support helps multiple generations. You give men, women and children what they need right now—food, clothing, shelter and Christian care—and at the same time, you give them a way to make tomorrow better through education.
As you read this month’s newsletter, I hope you will join me in celebrating the accomplishments of Cassidy and her mom Ann as they overcome the odds against them.
There are so many opportunities here, and as our caring friend, you help make them possible. Thank you so very much for your generosity and compassion. Your support truly makes a life-changing difference!
