At Nashville Rescue Mission, we are immensely grateful for the dedicated volunteers who give their time and energy to serve those in need day in and day out. For Volunteer Appreciation Week, we honor the invaluable contributions of our volunteers and the profound impact they continue to make on the lives of those who are hungry, hurting, and experiencing homelessness.
From serving meals in our kitchens to leading Bible studies in our chapels, each volunteer contributes to the transformative work we do here at the Mission. We want to shine a spotlight on three remarkable volunteers who embody the spirit of compassion and selflessness.
David Mason, who recently retired after 15 years of service with the Nashville Symphony chose to continue his journey by volunteering in our kitchen. “I have always been a ‘people person’ and have been blessed all my life. Now it is time for me to give back.” David’s choice to continue serving not only reflects his admirable devotion but also the significant difference that one person can make in the lives of others.
Terry and Colleen, a retired couple, found meaning and fulfillment in volunteering together. Moved by the Mission’s purpose to provide hope and support to those in need, Terry and Colleen have been such a beacon of light. “The Mission serves so many people each day and needs volunteer support to pull this off. As members of the body of Christ, it is a privilege to be a part of how the Mission serves the greater Nashville area.” Their dedication to serving others mirrors the love and generosity of Jesus, and their efforts extend blessings to both the guests and staff here at the Mission.
Then there’s Mark, a media executive whose journey of servant leadership led him to Nashville Rescue Mission. Inspired by the values instilled in him from an early age, Mark has dedicated the past five years to serving meals and offering support to those in need. “The Mission gave me a place where I can share my life experiences, hear the experiences of others, and be encouraged. I volunteer at the Mission because I’m around those who work there with the same ideals to serve, to help, to lead, and to protect the community.” Mark continues to inspire others to become active participants in our mission through volunteering, creating lasting impacts on those who seek refuge at the Mission.
Together, we are not just serving meals or offering shelter; we are providing hope, compassion, and a sense of belonging to those who need it most. From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for your continued support and commitment to making a difference. We are truly blessed to have you as part of the Nashville Rescue Mission family. You are the heart and soul within these walls, and we are always grateful for your willingness to serve.
If you are inspired by David, Terry, Colleen, and Mark and want to get involved at Nashville Rescue Mission, you can sign up to get involved here.
Happy Volunteer Appreciation Week.
