The spirit of Independence Day is not just about the United States officially becoming a country; it is also about celebrating the values our country was founded upon. The Declaration of Independence starts with this: “We hold these truths to be self-evident: That all men are created equal; that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable rights; that among these are life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.” 

For most people in America, celebrating the 4th of July is one of the best parts about summer. You get to barbecue with your family, watch fireworks, go to a parade—take part in all the fun summer activities. But for those who are homeless, it’s hard to celebrate a day of independence when you don’t have a home of your own or food to eat.
 
This 4th of July and throughout the summer, will you help the Nashville Rescue Mission give the homeless in our community something worth celebrating?
