As Vince was co-writing with Leslie Satcher, the line "one night, he wandered into that old mission" came to mind. It brought back memories of his brother who almost died in a car wreck at the age of 21. Vince’s brother was in a coma for 3-4 months and wasn’t expected to survive. He did survive, but he never really recovered. Over the years, his brother struggled to have a normal life. He would disappear for periods of time and the family would learn he’d spent time at the mission. His brother passed away in 1993. Vince wrote the song "Bread and Water" for his brother and for all of those who struggle with homelessness.
