How to Help: Homelessness in This Heat

We’d like to show you how you can help those in our community who are struggling with homelessness and hunger most effectively today:

💧 Donate Bottled Water

    • We’ll have it in our building and also pass it out on the streets to keep people hydrated. Our donation center is located at 616 7th Avenue South, Nashville, TN 37203 (big American flag mural). It’s open Monday through Saturday from 7am to 7pm.

💰 Make A Financial Donation

    • Instead of handing out money to someone, consider donating to nonprofits who serve those experiencing homelessness. You can make a donation to Nashville Rescue Mission by scrolling to the form below.

🥫 Donate Nonperishable Food

    • Food is often in short supply at shelters during this time of year, so consider a donation of canned goods or other nonperishable food items. You can find what items we need by visiting this link.

🧼 Give Toiletry Items

    • Travel-sized toiletry items (alcohol-free) and things like toothbrushes, toothpaste, disposable razors, soap, and lotion are always needed. If you would like to donate toiletry items to Nashville Rescue Mission, you can see our list and how to donate here.

❤️ Empower People To Get Out Of The Heat

    • Extreme heat can be very dangerous, and a place to cool down is vital. Point them to Nashville Rescue Mission or other day services in the area.

🤝 Volunteer

    • Give the gift of your time. Volunteer to serve your neighbors in need.

🆘 Be A Good Neighbor

    • If you see someone in need, check on them. Offer a bottle of water or other resources. Learn how to distinguish if someone is experiencing a heat stroke, and if it’s an emergency, call 911.

There are so many ways you can help in this heat. Through your support, those experiencing homelessness in Nashville this summer have more resources, more care, and more hope. We thank you!
