I’ve heard it said many times that we get the people no one else wants. Parole officers, spouses, mothers, the judicial and mental health systems—all have written off many of the people who come through our doors.
But I’ll tell you who hasn’t written them off—Jesus Christ. In Luke 14 there is a story of the master who sent his servant to “Go out quickly into the streets and alleys of the town and bring in the poor, the crippled, the blind and the lame.”
This is why Easter is such a great time to reach out with God’s love. We can offer hope when others have turned their backs, walked away and locked the door. It gives us an opportunity to tell others about Jesus and salvation.
Each day, hurting souls are given safe shelter, clean clothing and a hot meal providing them with a glimmer of hope. However, it’s not only the physical needs that are being met.
“Hope is the spirit of God, the spirit of the risen Lord that lives in each of us. Hope changes lives at the Nashville Rescue Mission.”
The Nashville Rescue Mission is unique in that any hurting soul who comes to us for help is given a message that has the power to change lives forever—a loving Savior died for all, conquering sin forever and rose again so we may have eternal life. It’s a joyous message to share, especially during the Easter season!
As we prepare for our Annual Easter Banquet, when we will welcome homeless men, women and children, we look forward to sharing not only a hot meal, but also God’s love with the hungry and homeless in our community.
Thank you for helping. Your faithful support will allow us to continue shining the light of hope in this city for years to come.
